My I-tunes says i have synced my ipod but it wont let me play them?

well i have an ipod shuffle and i synced it with I-tunes but when i went to listen to it the light was flashing orange and green. i looked up what that ment and it said that there is no songs on the ipod but there is... i dont no what to do.
