My iTunes keeps backdating my playlist?!?

Every time I try to make a change to my Favorites playlist on my iPhone then plug it in to listen to the list on iTunes on my computer, it changes it back after the sync. How can I update the list on my PC rather than backdate the list on my phone? Am I going to have to completely rebuild the playlist from scratch?
