I have a question about my iPod nano (5th Generation)?

I might be getting an iPod touch for my birthday, and if I get one I'm going to give my old iPod to my dad. I was wondering if I made my dad an account on iTunes, and I synced my old iPod to his account will it erase all of my songs on my iPod? If not how can I erase all of my songs on my iPod?
