Contacts from iphone back up files to black berry?

Hi. I recently lost my iphone.. so I got a black berry curve. I have my iphone backed up to my macbook and the guy at the att store says theres a way to transfer my contacts from those backed up files to my gmail account then sync that to my blackberry. Is there anyone out there who can help me or show me another way to get my contacts from my iphone back up files to my new black berry curve? thanks!
